Task 3: Creative Online Writing Entries

Hello everyone! I am Ahmad Akmal Haikal bin Ahmad Nizam, Akmal or Kemma for short, is a student from the Institute of Teacher Training (IPG) Dato’ Razali Ismail campus, Terengganu in the degree program (PISMP) majoring in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL). This blog is to fulfil a task on Creative Writing (TSLB3252) subject which is creative online writing entries (via digital media). I created this blog during my one-week School Based Experience (SBE) when I was in the Sekolah Kebangsaan Darat Batu Rakit (SK DABARA), in the Kuala Nerus district in the state of the turtles, Terengganu. It was a very busy week as we have to enter the classroom, conduct a meeting with the school’s administrator, and fulfil the SBE tasks. However, I manage to create these 3 types of entries which are travel writing, haiku, and modern poems during my leisure time at the school. So, I hope everyone will enjoy! Grammatical errors ahead!

1. Travel Writing
📌 Journey To Meet The Lion
It was a long journey. A journey from the land of a legendary Malay queen, Che Siti Wan Kembang, in the East Coast Malaysia to the Southern-tip of Malaysia, the most developed nation in Asia, the land of the lion, Singapore. The journey takes part in the night, a 10-hour journey by bus requires me to be patient and most importantly, to pee according to an uncertain time along the way. It was really hard as the bus just stopped a few times along the way at the RnR. Opportunity! I take it to make sure that I accomplished all my physical needs. Maybe these issue makes the journey longer. Yet, 'interesting' in many ways.
Interesting? Yes, because along the way, it was night. So, it is time to sleep! Just sleep and woke up seldom, no need to think of any problems. I just want to know the next morning, I will wake up at Tambak Johor Immigration, to take a bus along the bridge to Woodlands, ready to stamp my red travel book. Yes! 10-hour journey has come to an end. Safely arrived at a huge building, the Tambak Johor Immigration on the Malaysian side. Get off the bus, take the main entrance and que in a long row. One step away to Singapore.
Everything was done, my passport was stamped with a lion emblem and a sentence that says 'This passport bearer can now enter this country freely with Singapore Travel Visa for 30 days', which means I can freely enter the country without any obstacles, for 30 days! But, I will travel only if my ‘money’ allows me to. Then I went to the money changer to change the currency from ‘Ringgit’ to ‘Singapore Dollar’. That time the exchange rate was SD1 equals to RM2.50. So, I have changed RM200 which is equivalent to SD80 (only). Well, due to the economic growth and something that is related to economy which I do not know, of course. Whatever it is, SD1 = RM2.50.
Then, I walk out of the huge Woodlands Immigration towards the bus stop. To fetch a bus, obviously. The bus was quite frequent. After one and another just approximately 3 minutes of waiting! Wow! Impressive. It was also very clean. The first thing came to my mind was ‘Singapore public transport was great!’. Without waiting too long, I took the first bus to the Merlion Square. Along the way, the bus took the tourist friendly route which attracts me to see the development of Singapore. The buildings along the road was very beautiful. It has the colonial era design of the British Empire. I also passed by the Masjid Sultan at Kallang Road, The National University of Singapore during passing by Clementi Road, and there it is, The Merlion. Around 20 minutes of travel by bus from the Woodlands Immigration, finally arrived at the Merlion Park, where there is something there that shows a symbol of Singapore.
Merlion Park locates the famous white structure of the ‘Merlion’. Merlion is located near the manmade lake, which symbolises Singapore. Merlion is derived from the word ‘mermaid’ and ‘lion’ which suits the structure of the lion’s head, and a fish body. It symbolises Singapore that was originated as a fishing village and the lion’s head means the Singapore’s original name ‘Singapura’ which means ‘Kota Singa’ in Malay. From the Merlion, we can see a huge ark-like building, the Marina Bay, which is located on the other side of the lake. All in all, my journey to the Singapore was accomplished, to meet the ‘lion’.

3. Modern Poems
📌 Thought
I was sitting in the corner,
Thinking on how to do, what to do,

Is it the right way to do?
Or is it not?
Is it the best way to do?
Or is it not?
Think, think, think...

Because it is very hot,

Doing my job as usual,
Busy as a bee,
Finishing my entry,
Arranging my files,
So that everything will be done well,
A perfectionist, sometimes as hot as today!

📌 Library
